Merry Christmas and a happy Tech Spike
Hello all!
It was a busy Christmas from a family point of view but I still had a pretty productive month from the GameDev point of view. Most importantly, I have submitted Diehexegy to the GDWC! I do not foresee any wins but the original intention of having a deadline to have some form of playable build was effective. Having to make a demo made me think about the player's point of view and resulted in loads of tweaks to the UI and general experience.
Moving on, I have a list of Tech Debt items that have been building up that I want to deal with. Following that I need to get some input mapping for a controller as that is a core need (for the Steam deck and for the Steam page "Controller support" feature. I did not do the main menu in December but I definitely want it done soon to get an actual Demo up and running,
Things I got done this month
- Players and Ai can "lose" or "win" the game by conquest now
- Players and Ai can build new armies
- Loads of UI and UX QoL items done
- GDWC submission submitted!
Things I want to do in January
- Redo the AI scoring system to "normalise" scores
- Clear up some internal DTO tech debt
- Main Menu
- Controller Support
Bonus
- Implement a new way of winning the game (e.g. take and hold)
