Merry Devness and a happy new bug!

Hi all,

And thus we enter 2023. I am very proud of myself for the progress made in 2022.

As for December, well art is still delayed which is holding up a whole bunch of stuff. I also avoided my first playtest. I kept thinking of new things to add or things to fix/make better and the month got away from me.

That being said, lots of things got achieved.

Things I achieved in December:
Code
  • Reset the base resolution of the game so it would expand a bit better
  • Added some UI improvements
  • Added fog of war and exploration! (including in MP).
  • Port forwarded my router to my game server!
  • Logging and config files on the game server!
  • Display names appear on hover of city and player
  • You can have private mp games now!
  • Proper logging on the game server, and proper error handling too
  • Very light testing of MP over the internet
  • Started work on a "live" feed of MP moves. Currently, MP is just one big update, but I am working towards you being able to see each other's moves.
Other
  • Worked with the artist towards art assets for socials
  • Found a composer for the trailer music (though I am procrastinating about making the trailer...)
  • Started the steam page (whoa it's a big job).
  • Started prepping the marketing work.
    • Tasks lists
    • CRM
    • Social accounts
Things I will achieve in January:
  • I want to finish my first iteration of the "live" feed of MP moves. It will prove the concept and allow a quick iteration of all moves.
  • I desperately want to get the first playtest done. I feel it is a big mental bottleneck for me
  • I want to get the art sorted so I can publish my pages and update all the socials
  • I want a Linux job ready in my build server
  • I want to incorporate Steam in my build server (i.e. upload Alphas to Steam).

I think the code component for this month should be done soon. It'll be build server stuff, playtesting and trailer making for the rest of the month.
