Riding that refactoring high
Hello!
What a month it has been! I have done nearly 60 hours of work on the game over the month and have much to show. As expected I did not implement all the current features of single-player but got darn close. There are lots of little things to finish up as well as three major items: AI, Tutorials, and SaveGames.
The positive thing is that the new architecture model I am using will make the above relatively easy to implement. The only unknown is the AI but that is because I want to redo my approach. Before it was a sort of branching decision making whereas I want to move to a weighted decision-making process.
Overall I am very happy with what I got done and I nearly met all my goals for the month! Twitter followers have increased from me following 496 and 201 following me, to me following 1597 and 394 following me. The aim is to have a minor funnel ready for when I launch the page. I should have been more proactive leading up to the page launch but I am only one person, still! I might be able to bump it up more leading up to the launch.
That being said, I will be holding off on code work for the time being. My intention is for the Steam page to be up before July, so I want to get it done ASAP (though some minor code work would be nice to keep my GitHub profile looking good).
Things I want to get done in June
Primary
- Launch the Steam page!
- Get the UI of the new version up to the minimum required to make a trailer and some screenshots
- A unified font
- Panels and buttons using art assets
- The ability to turn the UI off for the trailer
- Make the trailer and screenshots
- Make the page
- Translate the page in as many different languages as I can handle
- Update Itch.io to match the Steam page before the launch
Secondary
- Prep other social media pages and accounts and launch them simultaneously with the Steam page
- Patreon (I will make a good effort in this as some people may want to support me financially)
- Tumblr
- Youtube
- Youtube shorts
- TikTok
- Twitter (need to update with new content)
Bonus goals:
- Proactively increase my Twitter follower count from 394 to something higher
